My “New” Trumpet: 1919 Holton

Bought a trumpet on Ebay. Trying to find a bit more about it. It is a 1919 Holton Trumpet.

The details on it are great and while it has a few dings it is playable condition.

The New Stove

Or Range in U.S. terminology. We finally replaced the last appliance in our house. The original was a Magic Chef range of undetermined age. I figure it was the from the early 1960s. No electronics what so ever. It had pilot light ignition, no oven light, and no window for the oven.

So two years ago, we decided to buy a new stove. I bought a new truck instead and we agreed to go shopping for the new stove. We procrastinated. Two years later we did. Ordered it the week of Thanksgiving (November 21). Had to be ordered since we did not want stainless steel. Lowe’s promised it would be here in about a week. So on a Sunday before it was to be delivered, I take the old trusty range out and add the new outlet for the electronics. Of course they call us on Monday (December 5) and tell us it is back ordered….

After much discussion, Lowe’s sends a loaner. A Whirlpool not much better than the Magic Chef but at least it is electronic ignition.

A few weeks later (December 27) after some more delays we get our Frigidaire Gallery Range.

And I made Pizza!

On the negative side it took Lowe’s one month to get us a stove. On the positive side, I am now pretty good at installing gas ranges.

Just a simple Craigslist ad I ran across. Says alot about our society

“We have a Meade LightBridge 12inch telescope for sale with 2 extra eye pieces and a shroud to keep dust and debris off during storage. Bought for kids and they have no interest in seeing anything other than what’s on the tv or computer. Would like to sell before Christmas to buy them something them something else they won’t use. “

NaBloPoMo – The Layout

Well made it 30 days. But for some reason everything is set to UTC so this will be dated December 1. Anyway, I do have more than locomotives. It surprised me that I had over 30 though. But the last post of NaBloPoMo will not be a locomotive. Instead it is my train layout. Or actually half of it. The other half has never had all the track laid and I am thinking about a 100% redo.

Here is the L.S&T. Least that’s the name I made up tonight. The Lexington, Seward and Talkeetna.

Another model of an EMD Locomotive. It is a F7 and yes we have had them before.

This is an Athearn model of a Santa Fe unit. It is unpowered and missing the detail bits. But for $2.00, I could not complain.

And a 20 second exposure. A good test of my new to me Manfrotto tripod. I wanted a large DOF.
