    how are you photographing these? (camera and telescope, duh, but details?)

    Its a 500mm telescope. 102 diameter. First picture, direct projection. Second picture, 40mm eyepiece projection. Yes it was cold. 15 mph wind with 30 mph gusts.

    I just looked at them — Mars is hidingks in the outer glow of the moon right now.

    A bit of chromatic aberration on the second photo. I assume its the eyepiece and not the objective as the first photo has none.Camera
    is a Pentax *istDS, telescope is a Celestron 102 mm diameter, 500 mm
    focal length spotting scope. Eyepiece was a 40 mm Rini. All on a
    homemade tripod.
