NaBloPoMo – Cameras – Praktica FX

We leave the Soviet Union heading east into East Germany with the Praktica FX.  It was consider a higher quality camera than the Zenits even though I believe the Zenits lasted longer.  It is a M42 screw mount camera.  No prism,  just a waist level finder.  I think the prisms were optional.  It was also physically larger than many of the competitors offering.

This example being in the first series was made somewhere between September 1952 to February 1954.  It is in pitiful condition and is basically a parts camera but nevertheless a nice example of the early East German camera industry.
